  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Chemistry Supervisor to join our growing team.

    Responsible for daily operations in the Chemistry department, including maintenance of equipment and the inspection of components for defects.


    • Responsible for daily operations in the Chemistry department, including maintenance of equipment and the inspection of components for defects
    • Provide accurate and timely test results in support of customer’s production schedules
    • Provide chemical analysis per customer requirements
    • Responsible for accurate Job Planning, reading and understanding customer
    • specification documents and translating these into clear instructions for staff
    • Provide supervision and training of staff as required
    • Ensure that all staff are adequately trained to perform the tasks asked of them
    • Learn and help develop new test methods and equipment
    • Monitors and expedites flow of materials through testing cycle
    • Ensure compliance with the corporate policies for Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental, Customer Care, and others as necessary in supervising the Department
    • Ensure calibration and proper functioning of measuring instruments and other test equipment

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Science related field (Chemistry preferred)
    • 5 plus years of management experience, preferably in the Materials Testing industry
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications; Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
    • Experience with Leco CS 744, Leco ONH 836, ICP-MS, OES and XRF preferred
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
    • Ability to plan and prioritize 

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
