  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for Building Products Testing TechnicianThe primary function of the Building Products Testing Technician is to perform concrete placement to support concrete anchor testing under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Understand the applicable test standards associated with concrete anchors, concrete fibers, and building stone
    • Prepare equipment, set anchors, and perform all routine concrete anchor tests (mechanical, chemical, channels and cast-in-place) in accordance with applicable test standards. This does not include seismic and crack width cycling tests
    • Perform routine building stone and concrete fiber tests (including concrete batching) in accordance with applicable test standards
    • Prepare data sheets for routine tests and submit to engineer for reviewInput raw data into Excel or other data analysis software
    • Maintain established productions rates for anchor testing
    • Work independently when given instructions
    • Assist with equipment & materials inventory
    • Maintain test equipment, tools and machinery, and promptly report any malfunctions
    • When needed, assist with concrete forming and castingMaintain a clean, orderly and safe working environment

    Skills / Qualifications

    • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • Associates Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
    • ACI Level I Concrete Technician preferred
    • ACI Certified Adhesive Anchor Installer preferred
    • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to claculate figures and amounts such as percentages and proportions
    • Must have valid Driver’s License
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
    • 1-2 years relatable experience preferred
    • Forklift experience preferred
    • Carpentry skills preferred
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle within Element company policies. A valid driver's license is requires
    • Good mathematical knowledge required.
    • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic hand/power tools
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)
    • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.
