  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity to join our growing team as an ICP Chemistry Technician. This position is responsible for processing ICP-MS samples while following all quality and international standards; including but not limited to calculating results, preparing data packages, and final reports. The candidate must be able to problem solve and operate with limited supervision as well as understand Agilent software for independent operation of the ICP-MS. 

    Responsibilities

     

    • Prepare sample for testing following laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
    • Perform testing in accordance with laboratory SOP
    • Perform sample preparation for metallic specimens for testing
    • Ensure equipment used is calibrated and verify the calibration before use
    • Operate ICPMS
    • Prepare solutions, samples and standards for gas lab and X-ray lab for analysis
    • Knowledge of current American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and National Aerospace and Defense Contractors
    • Accreditation Program (NADCAP) testing specifications and requirements
    • Monitor consumable supplies and keep inventory of supplies at recommended levels
    • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area
    • Maintain necessary logbooks/ spreadsheet
    • Responsible for calculating results and QC in proprietary spreadsheet, preparing data packages, and preparing final reports

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • BS in Chemistry, experience can supplement different degree
    • Have the ability to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary
    • Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
    • Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory
    • 2-5 years experience with ICPMS metals analyses  
    • Strong computer skills, especially with spreadsheets

     

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
