  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Manager within our stack emissions testing business who will be responsible for developing named accounts within Midlands / Southern England. In this role you will be responsible for pursuing sales opportunities to sell the full breadth of Element services within specified accounts in order to meet their assigned budget. You will support strategic or key accounts within your specified territory with any activities needed at local sites.


    • Working closely with the Sales Director, General Manager and Regional Managers responsible for sales in the Environmental Sector and specifically for our stack emissions testing business
    • Identifying, targeting and engaging with new customers focusing in the Midlands and Southern England and growing the sales pipeline and winning new business
    • Working closely with other sales roles to maximise the sales realised in the territory and to ensure the complete company capability is sold
    • Take ownership of the Sales budget for the territory and Division, ensure any sales gaps are identified, and a plan is put in place and implemented to deliver the sales budget
    • Taking ownership of all sales opportunities and quotations
    • Ensuring CRM system is up to date and accurately reflects all leads and opportunities in the sales pipeline; ensuring all sales activities – i.e. meetings, calls, quotes and tenders are accurately recorded
    • Actively pursuing new sales enquiries / opportunities passed across from the Inside Sales team
    • Maintaining the sales forecast with the General Manager and Sales Director
    • Where requested upselling to the existing customers, specifically those customers with Pricing Framework or need for additional services
    • Working with the Marketing team, General Managers and Sales Director to identify, target and engage with new customers
    • Participating in major tender development teams as directed
    • Working alongside peers in other divisions / territories to cross sell
    • Travel is an important part of the role and you will be expected to be on the road 4 days per week

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Significant Technical with sales responsibilities, experience and an understanding of sales processes
    • Bachelors of Science preferred but other four year degree will be considered
    • Good knowledge and experience of the Stack Emissions Testing industry in the UK abd environmental consultancy experience is desirable
    • Ability to discuss technical issues related to the industry at a professional level
    • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
    • An ambitious and driven professional who is motivated by success
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Dynamics AX and CRM, Word, Excel)
    • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events / projects in the community, with customers and within the company
    • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
    • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
    • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
    • Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions
    • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time; some overnight travel may be required
