Element has an opportunity for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.  

Element Daleville is a materials testing laboratory located in Daleville, Indiana, supporting aerospace, defense, and critical manufacturing customers across the region. 

Core capabilities include mechanical testing, metallurgical evaluation, and chemistry testing for metals and alloys used in high-performance applications. Services include tensile testing (room and elevated temperature), hardness testing, Charpy and Izod impact testing, metallography and microstructural evaluation, weld testing and welder qualification support, macroetch and weld macro examination, heat treatment services, stress rupture and creep rupture testing, and metallurgical failure analysis support.
 

Salary: $27- $32/hr DOE 

• Possess a Bachelors of Science degree in a science or testing related field
• Have a minimum of 2 years’ pertinent post degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications
• Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s business
• In-depth understanding of testing concepts i.e. Tensile Testing, Stress/Creep Rupture Testing, Hardness Testing, Heat Treatment, Bend Testing
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety
• Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries within the field of Mechanical Testing
• Communication and Leadership skills within a team environment.
• Knowledge of Calibrations and ISO environment experience a plus.
• Possess a strong drive for continuous improvement for both Quality and Efficiency
• Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed
• Possess strong computer skills

• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
• Have the ability to work on well-defined issues, standard and/or routine tests, without significant guidance or supervision
• Takes Initiative and, in most cases, does not need to wait for further instruction
• Able to decide on and implement appropriate testing methods and protocols
• Leads and assigns the work of others when needed
• Analytical/technical knowledge provides a marked impact on overall laboratory technical capabilities and services
• Adapt at managing job priority and work time in accordance with targets/goals set by supervisor
• Under the close guidance of advanced Engineers in the laboratory, works on well delineated technical issues including standard and routine analysis
• Defined work experience has impact on the day to day technical decisions made on timely delivery of laboratory testing services and customer support
• Recognized by colleagues within the lab as possessing strong technical knowledge.
• Has a clearly demonstrated ability to apply an array of testing techniques in a rational and practical style to help examine issues and build solutions
