  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Fluorescent Penetrate Inspector to perform Liquid Penetrant Testing using specific techniques on aerospace products. Uses knowledge of products, manufacturing processes, equipment set-up, and NDT methods to process parts for inspection following specific operating procedures. Interprets and evaluates test results

    Responsibilities

    • Review routers, procedures, specifications, drawings and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operationProcess part(s) in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for welding, machining, cold forming, and/or casting discontinuities exceeding requirements specified
    • Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on NDT (Liquid Penetrant Test) equipment by following established instructions and record results
    • Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results as required
    • Fill out required logs and work sheets as required
    • Clean equipment and ensures it is working properly, and clean and maintain work area as needed
    • May perform other NDT tasks as qualified for and as required (visual, MPI, etc.)
    • Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.)
    • Maintain work area, equipment, and all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
    • Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to Level I NDT Inspectors, trainees and fellow Level II NDT Inspectors
    • Assist the Level III in developing specific test techniques

    • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and pass written and practical examinations.     • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees of organization
    • Ability to calculate ratios and proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
    • Must meet DOT background check and medical requirements including drug screening
      Frequency of required physical force: Occasional (moderate)
    • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. sporadically
    • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
    • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
    • Work is performed indoors
