Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Metallurgist whose primary responsibility is to support the Metallurgy Lab Manager in running day to day laboratory tests along with site and field testing.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements
  • Carry out the corrosion tests as per NACE standards and other project specification to determine the susceptibility of material to corrosion in various service conditions
  • Perform metallographic examinations on various materials to be determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases and general microstructure evaluation
  • Work with other technicians to carry out work as per the planning schedule
  • Be willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution Element Technology annual targets and budget

Skills / Qualifications

  • Ideally a degree in Metallurgy or a related qualification 
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Good maths skills
  • Knowledge and experience of safe operation of metallurgical testing equipment and operating in lab and / or industrial environment
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Good MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, TEAMS, Excel)
