Overview

Element has an opportunity for an 2nd Shift Inorganics Laboratory Technician to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. As a member of the Inorganics department at our Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne, IN, the Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine assignments within the department to ensure timely and accurate testing is performed. The technician must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Routinely work with client samples, laboratory instruments, chemicals, and reagents
  • Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures, published methods, and laboratory accreditations
  • Operate under the supervision of more senior test technicians, chemists, and/or department managers
  • Complete logs and record test data
  • Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Clean glassware and dispose of samples

Skills / Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
  • Ability to work independently
  • HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
  • 0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
  • Basic understanding of testing concepts
  • Possess computer skills
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
