Overview

Purpose of the Position:

 

The General Manager for the Mobility, Transportation, and Military Business will be responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and strategic leadership within our battery, reliability and defense testing sectors. You will be responsible for financial performance in line with budget, manage operations for our Dongtan, Sandan and Daegu testing laboratories, ensure customer satisfaction, and foster a safety-first culture while focusing on long-term strategic and organizational development.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a safety-first culture, ensuring all employees and operations prioritize safety.
  • Embody Element’s values of Care, Integrity, and Progress, fostering these in the team.
  • Responsible and accountable to drive and deliver the annual Business Plan commitments including revenues, profit, working capital and operational performance.
  • Overall EBITDA responsibility of $4M (2025 target with a potential to be expanded in the future).
  • Responsibility of 50 employees.
  • Lead the overall organization through a cadence of setting budgets, hitting targets, closing customer deals, growing revenue, increasing profitability, managing safety and quality.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talents to ensure proper staffing levels and skill sets to deliver sustainable business results.
  • Responsible for capital equipment and facilities planning. Prepare and submit accurate plans and forecasts as required, maintain acceptable levels of working capital, and determine and execute corrective actions necessary to achieve plan goals.
  • Responsible for collaborating effectively with support functions and systems including Quality, Safety, Security, Finance, Human resources, Business Improvement, and Service Excellence.
  • Build and execute short- and long-term business plans and strategies to include operational goals, equipment needs, innovative operational and client solutions aligned with staffing for the location.
  • Work in conjunction with long term group growth goals, develop and implement strategies based on geographic business industry knowledge, changing market conditions, technical capability and expertise, and capital expenditures.
  • Promote a customer centric culture through regular interactions with customers driving one of Elements core values of Customer Care throughout the organization including oversight and implementation of customer corrective actions plans, while continuously working to improve net promoter scores throughout the site.
  • Lead a culture focused on continuous improvement in the areas of being a zero-injury workplace, operational excellence, colleague engagement, and delivering sustainable results.
  • Build and maintain a culture that promotes teamwork, coaching and collaboration.
  • Lead and manage the team, communicate goals and objectives, provide direction, motivation, and engagement to colleagues.

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Preferably 8+ years’ management experience managing a large organization, with 40+ employees and 4+ direct reports.
  • Proven track record of P&L success and business development; could include sales growth, marketing strategies, negotiating and closing deals, process improvements, innovation, setting budgets, hitting targets, and profitability, growing and developing teams, managing safety and quality, and engaging and developing teams.
  • Strong customer engagement experience preferred with both direct contact with customers and leading an organization to best serve customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to proactively identify financial challenges, analyze available information and identify innovative solutions.
  • Must be able to effectively trouble shoot and resolve day to day business challenges.
  • Must have a strong ability to partner with colleagues and departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Human Resources, Finance)
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously, within an intense, deadline-driven environment to deliver business results.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and influence others, as well as being able to articulate and effectively adjusts style, message and approach to the audience.
  • This position is expected to be onsite at our locations in Dongtan
