Overview

Element is hiring a proactive and knowledgeable Safety, Health & Security Specialist to support and advance our organization’s safety culture, regulatory compliance, and risk-management initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of professional experience safety, health and/or corporate security functions. This role plays a critical part in protecting our people, assets, and operations while promoting a Zero Harm mindset across all locations.

 

Element is a global provider of lab-based Testing, Inspection and Certification services, powering confident decisions in the most highly-regulated industries.

Responsibilities

Safety and Health

  • Implement and maintain safety and health programs in alignment with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local regulations
  • Support program development including workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses to identify and mitigate risks
  • Support the administrative oversight and data management of safety KPIs, existing safety procedures and established documentation
  • Manage the oversight of a safety leadership team supporting the needs of multiple functions within the business
  • Help to improve incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and trend tracking tools
  • Coordinate safety training, incident management and safety data sheet safety software as a service venders
  • Assist in the development, review, and communication of safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans
  • Monitor safety metrics and prepare reports for leadership, highlighting performance, trends, and areas for improvement

Security

  • Support physical security programs, including access control, visitor management, and CCTV monitoring practices
  • Support and respond to security concerns acting as the point of contact across the network of laboratories
  • Work with a cross functional team to ensure the physical security program meets the United States cyber security maturity model certification (CMMC) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Participate in the maturing of a security management system to include security risk assessments and help implement measures to safeguard personnel, facilities, and assets
  • Assist in coordinating responses to security incidents, emergencies, and drills
  • Contribute to business continuity and crisis-management planning

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Security Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-4 years of experience in safety, health, corporate security, or related roles
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement
  • Knowledgeable in data analytics, SharePoint and standard Microsoft software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and respond calmly under pressure
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and coach others
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and fast-paced environments
