Element is looking for a Mechanical Technologist to conduct product testing performance evaluations in accordance to well defined standards, standard operating procedures, and/or performance specifications. The successful candidate will be involved in specimen setup, data acquisition, test execution, scheduling, equipment maintenance / calibration, client interaction and technical report writing.
• Involvement in sample preparation, test setup/fixturing, test execution, data collection & analysis.
• Reviewing and understanding of test requirements per relevant standards and specifications.
• Technical report writing containing specimen description, observations / test results per standard or performance requirements.
• Coordinating equipment calibration per Element quality procedures.
• Purchasing materials and maintaining equipment.
• Typical product evaluation methods: compression, tension, torsion, displacement, impact, stock, vibration and thermal exposure.
• Completion of a College program in Engineering or Technology
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working in an engineering or industrial environment.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, controllers and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
• Experience with common hand and power tools (ability to weld is an asset).
• Computer proficiency (MS Office).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to read and understand customer technical specifications.
• Conduct safe material handling per Element guidelines.
