Overview

Element has an opportunity for a new Assistant Finance Analyst position within the Corporate Planning & Performance Management (P&PM) team, which is part of the Element Group Finance team and based in London.

Our Corporate Planning & Performance Management team is responsible for all management reporting and financial planning processes of the company and the administration of the systems used to support. The team prepares all data, analysis and commentary required to allow the Executive team to articulate the Element story to the Board and external stakeholders. They also act as Finance Business Partners to the Operating Board members that manage our Functional teams (e.g. Finance & Legal, HR, IT).

The team is growing and are looking to progress its capabilities and function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career finance professional to join Element’s Group Finance team as a Finance Analyst for the corporate functions. The role is primarily focused on supporting our business partnering activities for the Group Corporate functions, namely IT, Legal & Finance - working closely with operational teams to provide financial insight, drive performance, and support decision-making.

In addition to your corporate functions responsibilities, you’ll also benefit from a rotation across three other key finance functions:

• Group Reporting & Controls
• Finance Systems
• FP&A

This rotation will give you a well-rounded understanding of corporate finance and help build the skills needed for a successful long-term career in finance.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles across central group functions
• Collaborate with central functions to manage monthly reporting, tracking of actual spend versus budgets (detailed operational expense tracking, analysis and reporting)
• Help maintain and improve finance systems and reporting tools
• Assist in coordinating information for cross-functional projects and continuous improvement efforts, providing management information to project leadership
• Build relationships with stakeholders across finance and operations
• Liaise with a range of internal stakeholders, including accounting, procurement, IT and project teams to coordinate key information, advise on accounting policy
• Assist in maintaining OPEX spend tracker, preparing and allocating costs to budgets, to analyse variances in spend and provide a management view to IT leadership.

Skills / Qualifications

• Recently graduated or early in your finance career (degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field desirable)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Eager to learn, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Working towards a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) or keen to start


Highly desirable skills include:
• Some experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
• Experience of financial performance analysis, budgeting / forecasting would be advantageous
• Experience with analysing large datasets
• Experience of financial performance analysis, budgeting / forecasting would be advantageous

Software experience:
• Microsoft Office experience – Strong Excel skills as well as PowerPoint, Word.
• Familiarity with financial systems (e.g, Onestream, Workiva, Blackline) is a plus but not essential
• Knowledge of Power Query/VBA would be highly desirable
