Element has an opportunity for a Associate Test Technician (Polymers) to join our polymer testing team in Houston, TX. The Associate Test Technician performs a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory testing assignments to support polymer material evaluations. Under direct supervision, this role ensures testing is completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
Salary: $20- $23/hr DOE
Prepare and process material specimens for a variety of physical and mechanical tests in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Perform routine and repetitive laboratory tests following standardized procedures, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with testing requirements.
Record, organize, and maintain test data and documentation in alignment with quality assurance.
Safely handle materials, chemicals, and equipment, including high-temperature fixtures and high-pressure vessels, while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.
Operate under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers, supporting complex test setups and learning advanced testing techniques.
Assist in constructing, calibrating, and maintaining test fixtures, instruments, and laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
Read and understand customer specifications and testing requirements to carry out assigned procedures correctly and efficiently.
Plan and complete daily tasks proactively, managing priorities to meet test schedules and customer deadlines.
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in chemistry, materials science, or related field preferred.
0–2 years of laboratory experience, ideally in polymer or materials testing.
Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and quality control principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to follow written procedures and work effectively under supervision.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals, heat, and testing equipment.
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and handling of materials required.
