Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Product Safety Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Irvine, CA. As a member of the operations team, the Product Safety Test Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.

 

The Product Safety Test Engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support testing of electrical/electronic devices to key National and International safety standards (such as ANSI/AAMI/IEC 60601-1, IEC/UL 62368-1, IEC/UL 61010-1, and IEC/UL 60335-1)
  • Generate technical test reports which will be used as part of CE marking, NRTL, IECEE CB and other regulatory, legislative and certification requirements for electrical devices around the world
  • Support the development of new capabilities within the Product Safety Department
  • Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, electronics or equivalent engineering field and/or electronics testing equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-5 years working in Regulatory Compliance with specific in-depth experience in Product Safety Testing & Certification of Electronic Device Technologies
  • Working knowledge of laboratory quality aspects around ISO 17025
  • Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline
  • Previous experience of testing to core standards listed above
  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of Element’s Product Safety business
  • Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed
  • Proficiency in using basic lab tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, thermal imaging), knowledge of safety standards, and the ability to read schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, are crucial
  • Candidate with strong technical knowledge/experience in MED category is preferred
