Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Sandblaster to join our rapidly expanding team. A Sandblaster is responsible for sandblasting surfaces to remove old paint, rust, and other debris. The Sandblaster uses specialized equipment to spray a high-pressure stream of sand, steel grit, or other abrasive material onto the surface in order to clean and prepare it for painting, coating, or other treatments. The Sandblaster must possess a working knowledge of proper safety procedures and techniques in order to ensure that all work is completed effectively and safely. The Sandblaster may also be responsible for operating other related equipment, such as sandblasting cabinets and vacuum systems.

 

Salary: $20- $24/hr DOE 

 

Responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation: Abrade surfaces of metal to remove rust, paint, grease, and other contaminants using abrasive materials like sand or grit.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently, adjusting pressure and nozzle angles to achieve desired finishes without damaging underlying materials.
  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate abrasive materials based on the type of surface and desired finish, ensuring optimal results for each project.
  • Maintenance: Inspect and maintain sandblasting equipment, including hoses and nozzles, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaboration: Work with other team members to schedule blasting operations, minimizing downtime and ensuring project timelines are met.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in sandblasting or a related field is often preferred, along with familiarity with heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety procedures and techniques to ensure safe operation of sandblasting equipment.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure that surfaces are prepared to meet both aesthetic and structural standards.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials.
