The Eddy Current NDT Technician (level 1) is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) using the eddy current method to evaluate materials, components, and assemblies for surface and near-surface defects. The technician will ensure compliance with industry codes, customer requirements, and internal quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Salary: $21-24/hour + $1 differential (2nd shift)
Shift: 1-9:30pm
Perform eddy current inspections on metals, alloys, and other conductive materials to detect cracks, corrosion, wear, or other discontinuities.
Set up and calibrate eddy current equipment according to applicable procedures, specifications, and standards.
Collaborate with quality, and production teams to address findings and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure all NDT equipment is properly maintained, stored, and calibrated.
Adhere to company and industry safety practices, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Maintain certification and training requirements in accordance with company policy and relevant standards (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Exposure to using eddy current instruments, probes, and related accessories.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
Field and shop environments with exposure to varying weather and industrial conditions.
Must be willing to travel and work overtime or weekends as needed.
Use of PPE and strict adherence to safety procedures required.
