Overview

A Production Planner works with both managers and production employees to ensure the company hits its production goals on time and within budget. They handle all the scheduling and ensure the materials, machines and workspaces are ready to go to increase production efficiency. Production Planners monitor the overall situation, including incoming orders, supply chain problems, market changes and inventory issues, to minimize the impact on production. They collaborate with other departments and the management team to set production goals. Production Planners also ensure the workforce needs are met with the proper scheduling of employees.

 

Salary: $49,920.00 - $54,080.00 yr DOE

 

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules based on customer demand and inventory levels to ensure timely completion of production targets.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate with various departments, including purchasing, production, and logistics, to ensure the availability of materials and equipment needed for production.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and place orders as necessary to prevent shortages and ensure smooth production flow.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues, such as scheduling conflicts or material shortages, to minimize delays and optimize efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze production data and generate reports on metrics such as efficiency and utilization to inform decision-making and improve processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production supervisors and other teams to communicate production status and adjust schedules as needed.

Skills / Qualifications

Educational Background: A degree in operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in manufacturing or production planning is often required.

 

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in production planning software and tools, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess production processes and implement improvements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet production deadlines.
