Overview

Element has an opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, you are an essential member of the management team and responsible for the overall quality performance. This includes the Element quality management system (QMS), Prime approvals, improving First Time Right, maintaining and developing relationships with Aerospace Primes and customers and improving processes. The successful candidate will have a sound working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and Nadcap requirements in relation to materials testing. Experience in relation to the Aerospace industry and Nadcap for NDT inspection and Materials testing would be desirable.  

 

In this role, you will have interaction with clients, Accreditation Bodies and Primes and will be responsible for advising operational colleagues of the importance of quality, accuracy and integrity in the provision of the inspection and testing services we provide.

 

You will be involved in leading quality at a local level and will work closely with the Division Quality Manager to ensure that Element quality policies, processes and procedures are effectively implemented in Plzeň.  As a quality leader within Element you will be capable of driving a culture of quality assurance and quality improvement, working closely with your operational colleagues and the wider Element quality community.

 

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement the QA requirements of ISO 17025 and Nadcap and establish and maintain a documented Quality Management System to ensure compliance of business processes with such QMS standards, and ensure the business understands its responsibilities
  • Evaluate and implement customers’ requirements into the business management system as appropriate to ensure alignment and negotiate with the customers on Element’s compliance
  • Ensure that the highest standards of quality are maintained and that deviations are identified and corrected along with clear reporting of the facts and corrective actions
  • Address and close quality system related non-conformances; provide guidance for the close out of technical deviations and communicate common themes to other Quality Managers
  • Monitor and communicate the status of the health of the business management system to local and BU management
  • Monitor and use of audit outputs and quality trends in the development of local targets and strategies for the continuous improvement of the quality systems and process and to improve customer performance
  • Support the maintenance and extension of accreditations and customer approvals as agreed with local management, Quality Manager, Aerospace & Connected Technologies, Europe as well as the Director Quality, Aerospace & Connected Technologies to service our customer base and retain our competitive position as a market leader in materials testing
  • Support colleagues in the implementation of the Business Management System for local processes
  • Advise the laboratories with regards to the management of PTP schedules
  • Preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, and annual Management Reviews
  • Development and management of the internal audit programme
  • Leads internal, interlaboratory, supplier, customer, and third-party audits. Liaise with and be first point of contact for outside inspection authorities and/or 3rd party and customer auditors
  • Ensure compliance of sub-contract activities through external auditing of supplier quality management systems where required
  • Review and evaluation of the performance of internal auditors
  • Establishes the required training needs for the organisation to meet the QMS requirements including Quality onboarding, internal auditor competence, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Approval of quality critical suppliers, purchase orders and procurement of standards
  • Ensure that the implementation of the eQMS is effective and that colleagues implement the system across the facilities

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a scientific or engineering discipline, with ideally 5 years’ experience in materials testing or a related environment (e.g. manufacturing)
  • Experience of working in an ISO / IEC 17025 environment is a prerequisite
    Nadcap experience would be preferred
  • Native Czech speaker, English level C1
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability prioritize activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in participating in quality investigations, undertaking root cause analysis, developing corrective action plans, and ensuring the effectiveness of actions undertaken
  • Requirement to keep up to date with changes in the quality landscape and maintain personal professional development
  • Ability to identify quality and technical problems and work with colleagues to determine effective and sustainable solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work effectively as part of a team
