Overview

Element is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and govern quality assurance across our Aerospace & Defence Business Unit. This is a strategic role, focused on ensuring full compliance with international and customer-specific quality standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

You will work closely with the Business Unit Leadership Team and Divisional Leadership Team to ensure that all laboratories operate to a common, high-quality standard. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining a unified Quality Management System across multiple sites in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and the Czech Republic.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a compliant Quality Management System aligned with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and customer requirements; ensure business-wide understanding of quality responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of five quality professionals within the division.
    Oversee resolution of quality system non-conformances and technical deviations; share key trends and lessons with divisional leads
  • Analyse quality data to identify trends and support continuous improvement of systems, auditing, and processes
  • Support the maintenance and expansion of accreditations and customer approvals in coordination with local management and the Aerospace & Defence Quality Director
  • Assist with local implementation of the Business Management System
  • Promote collaboration across laboratories to share best practices and align quality systems
  • Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and annual Management Reviews
  • Manage internal, supplier, customer, and third-party audits; act as key liaison with external auditors and inspection authorities
  • Identify and coordinate quality-related training needs, including onboarding, internal auditing, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Foster strong working relationships within the wider quality network and across Business Unit laboratories

Skills / Qualifications

  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of quality management systems, auditing, and relevant customer, national, and international standards
  • Must operate with the highest levels of impartiality, honesty, and integrity
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline, with experience implementing and managing QMS
  • IT literate
  • Chartered Quality Institute membership (or equivalent) preferred
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently, managing teams, and delegating effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders
  • Confident representing the business with credible technical authority
  • Proficient in quality management tools, audit experience is essential
  • Willingness to travel internationally, valid passport and full driving licence required
