Overview

Element has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Chemist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and routine testing of metal alloys using a range of analytical instruments including ICP, AA, OES, XRF-PMI, LECO gas analyzers, and Powder Characterization Units. This role plays a critical part in delivering accurate, timely results to support our metallurgical testing services.

 

Salary: $27- $30/hr Depending on Experience 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process samples for testing in accordance with established protocols.

  • Perform analytical testing of metal alloys using instruments such as:

    • Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)

    • Atomic Absorption (AA)

    • Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)

    • X-Ray Fluorescence Positive Material Identification (XRF-PMI)

    • LECO gas analyzers

    • Powder Characterization Units

  • Adhere to Element’s SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure all tests are completed properly and on schedule.

  • Conduct daily maintenance and cleaning of assigned instruments to ensure consistent operation and data integrity.

  • Accurately interpret and report test results and maintain clear, organized documentation.

  • Contribute to quality assurance and productivity targets through disciplined work habits and collaboration.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an Associate Chemist Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related laboratory experience.

  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting purchase orders, technical specifications, and engineering drawings.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Resilient and dependable, especially in fast-paced or challenging environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment:

  • The role is based in a laboratory setting with frequent exposure to chemicals, metal samples, and analytical instruments.

  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, and sometimes hearing protection.

  • Involves standing, sitting, bending, and lifting samples or equipment (up to 30 lbs) during testing and preparation activities.

  • May require occasional extended hours or weekend work to meet project deadlines or client needs.
