Element has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Chemist (2nd Shift) to join our team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for routine testing and analysis of metal alloys using a variety of advanced instrumentation. This includes ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma), AA (Atomic Absorption), OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy), XRF-PMI (X-ray Fluorescence - Positive Material Identification), LECO gas analyzers, and Powder Characterization Units. The Associate Chemist plays a critical role in ensuring test accuracy, maintaining equipment integrity, and delivering high-quality results to meet client and internal requirements.
Salary: $26 - $28/hour Depending on Experience + $1.00 Differential
Shift 2: 2 - 10:30pm
Prepare and process samples for testing in accordance with established protocols.
Perform analytical testing of metal alloys using instruments such as:
Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)
Atomic Absorption (AA)
Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)
X-Ray Fluorescence Positive Material Identification (XRF-PMI)
LECO gas analyzers
Powder Characterization Units
Adhere to Element’s SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure all tests are completed properly and on schedule.
Conduct daily maintenance and cleaning of assigned instruments to ensure consistent operation and data integrity.
Accurately interpret and report test results and maintain clear, organized documentation.
Contribute to quality assurance and productivity targets through disciplined work habits and collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an Associate Chemist Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related laboratory experience.
Familiarity with reading and interpreting purchase orders, technical specifications, and engineering drawings.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Resilient and dependable, especially in fast-paced or challenging environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The role is based in a laboratory setting with frequent exposure to chemicals, metal samples, and analytical instruments.
Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, and sometimes hearing protection.
Involves standing, sitting, bending, and lifting samples or equipment (up to 30 lbs) during testing and preparation activities.
May require occasional extended hours or weekend work to meet project deadlines or client needs.
