Overview

Element has a current opening for a Project Manager to join our growing team in Bend, OR. The Project Manager provides operational and customer support for the execution of Extractable and Leachable (E&L) studies with an internal focus. Works closely with program management and operational staff to maximize utilization and profitability while maintaining a high level of quality.

 

Please Note: This is an on-site position. 

Responsibilities

  • Project oversight and decision maker for individual studies, as assigned.
    o Point of contact for internal project related questions.
    o Scope monitoring during project execution. Take appropriate steps to maintain profitability.
    o Monitor or participate in project related investigations. Works with department managers to make recommendations and decide path forward.
    o Perform or coordinate lab organization activities and execution of studies with laboratory personnel to set up the project for success.
    o Coordinate study needs with program management including test materials, receiving, approved protocol status, etc.
    o Ensure that projects are performed, documented and completed according to customer expectations and quality system requirements.
  • Coordinate post-project activities.
    o Perform post-mortem on projects and implement corrective/preventive actions.
    o Oversee implementation of T-SPCs and data packages as applicable.
  • Work with program management to develop and design E&L studies.
    o Educate VR staff as needed on technical aspects of studies.
    o Provide technical answers to customer questions.
    o Design activities for complex studies.
  • Collaborate with lab and analytical department leaders to manage scheduling and maximize utilization.
  • Prepare, review and revise protocols and reports.
    o Coordinate with appropriate staff on technical details.
    o Update and maintain protocol and report templates.
    o Create or review conclusion tables.
  • Project folder management.
  •  Asana administrator and trainer.
  • Actively pursue continuous improvement and E&L continuing education.
  • Write or review controlled procedures including SOPs, Process Instructions, Test Methods and material specifications, as applicable.
  • Perform additional activities as needed based on the needs of the team and company.

Skills / Qualifications

General Requirements: 

 

  • B.S. in chemistry or related field.
  • Experience with extractable/leachable studies including study design, data analysis, reporting, and laboratory resource needs.

 

This position performs its duties in both and office and laboratory setting. Therefore, these physical requirements and working conditions apply:

  • Able to speak and hear, use close and distance vision, and identify and distinguish color.
  •  May work in a sitting and/or standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Exposure to frequent noise (light to moderate) while working in the laboratory and office area.
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction, and kneel and stoop repeatedly.
  • Able to frequently lift and carry up to 5-15 pounds.
  • Able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work continually requires manual dexterity and use of gross motor skills. Work frequently requires bimanual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • May work with toxic/hazardous chemicals and airborne particles.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coat, masks and safety glasses and use applicable engineering controls (e.g., chemical fume hoods) when handling chemicals
