Overview

The Building Products Testing Technician plays a critical role in performing Seismic testing on residential and commercial construction consumables to manufacture published standards utilizing industry test standards. This position requires hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation; will involve data analysis and report generation. The role will independently execute testing processes while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in a dynamic laboratory environment.

 

 

Responsibilities

· Conduct seismic testing and other testing methods on construction anchor bolts, adhering to established test standards.
· Install and test in accordance with manufacturers' published instructions.
· Some communicate with project managers and clients about testing results, project updates, and demonstrate testing processes.
· Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, vehicles to support testing operations and material handling.
· Use power and hand tools to install concrete anchors and fix wood or aluminum formwork.
· Collect and analyze raw data using Excel or other data analysis software and generate comprehensive reports summarizing test results.
· Assist with equipment and materials inventory management, ensuring accurate records for client and internal use
· Assist in the design, assembly and pouring of concrete slabs.
· Maintain and troubleshoot test equipment, tools, and machinery.

Skills / Qualifications

· Education: High school diploma or GED required.
· Experience:
o 1-4 years of related experience in construction, testing, or heavy equipment operation.
o Experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts is essential.
o Construction experience beneficial; concrete, bituminous, carpentry, framing
o Customer relations experience beneficial
· Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in Microsoft office for data analysis and report generation.
o Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
o Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and technical documents.
· Soft Skills:
o Strong written and verbal communication skills for generating and explaining reports.
o Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

 

Physical Demands:
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and over 50 lbs. occasionally.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks in indoor and outdoor environments.
· Comfortable working in physically demanding situations, including using moderate physical force.

Additional Requirements:
· Valid driver’s license required; must operate vehicles within company policies.
· Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work autonomously, completing tasks efficiently.
· Willingness to work in variable weather conditions as required by project demands.
