Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Graduate / Trainee Technical Engineer to join our growing team. This role can be based from either our High Wycombe or Warrington facility. You will be involved in undertaking the analysis of results from fire resistance testing and the production of product assessments and classification reports. A technical mindset with great organisation, project management, commercial awareness / understanding and communication skills are essential for this role.

This is a great opportunity to develop your Technical & Certification career within a Global Testing, Inspection and Certification business.

 

Responsibilities

  • Help with and progress to writing robust technical engineering reports in relation to passive fire protection product sectors 
  • Be able to judge the relevance and impact of primary and secondary supporting fire and non-fire data in order to provide advice based on customer needs and produce technical assessments and classification reports, EXAP Reports, European Technical Assessments, third-party Certification for fire safety products and constructions
  • Plan test programmes in liaison with clients and the relevant testing departments once competency has been developed
  • Continuously develop knowledge in National, European and International Standards and Specifications relating to fire safety
  • Work with manager, colleagues and team to increase knowledge of role and standards and the service provided by all
  • Aim to suitably project manage enquiries from enquiry through to delivery of the scope of work
  • Manage customer expectations and ensure high levels of customer care

Skills / Qualifications

  • Educated to degree standard, in either a science, engineering, or a civil engineering subject or 4+ years fire testing / PFPF assessment experience 
  • Analytical & inquisitive in nature and strong problem-solving skills
  • Keen interest in all aspects of fire safety
  • Methodical and highly organised: capable of meeting deadlines
  • Able to make informed decisions and confidence to stand by / justify these decisions
  • Presentation skills
  • Flexibility to travel to other sites / customer locations when necessary 
  • Ideally a Full UK Driving Licence
  • UK Right To Work, with no restrictions
  • Ideally (but not a necessity) a graduate with some construction industry related experience eg Site Engineer, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Site Engineer
